Can someone help to disabled people?

both myself and my boyfriend are disabled, i am from the uk and he is american, we have been together for 3 years and want to get married next year, the problem is we don't know what to do or where to start we have been told that because of our disablilites we cant be together,as we both dont work, we want to marry and live here in the uk, i am on benefits, disability benefits etc, as he is in the states, i know he cant claim that here, but we so desparately want to be together any advise would be gratefully appreicated, we are very serious about this, and feel that our happiness is being put on hold because of what life has dealt us both, its very stressful being apart, and very expensive to keep having to travel back and forth visiting each, we just want to settle down and be happy..thank you for listening..
